Privacy and Policy

***In response to the governors guidance for COVID – 19, we are allowing in person appointments, as long as clients are not symptomatic of the coronavirus.

I also offer Telehealth sessions by zoom if you are wanting to stay in the privacy of your home.

Confidentiality and Policies

The law protects the relationship between the client and the psychotherapist, information cannot be discussed without written permission. Confidentiality is important to all individuals involved.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am require by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s), I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If the client intends to harm their self, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Policy Statement

Renewing Strength counseling, LLC is an educational, informational and professional service organization that is dedicated to advocacy and the provision of compassionate care in the treatment and prevention of mental illness. This document, which specifies the essentials of ethical standards, enables Renewing Strength counseling, LLC to clarify for present and future employees, the nature of ethically responsible treatment by the organization and its’ employees.

To our community we serve: We are committed to understanding the particular needs of the communities we serve and providing these communities quality, cost-effective behavioral healthcare. We realize as an organization, that we have a responsibility to help those in need.

Non-Discrimination Policy

Renewing Strength counseling, LLC shall operate in a manner that does not unlawfully discriminate against people on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other prohibited federal, state or local law.

Seclusion and Restraints Policy

Renewing Strength counseling, LLC does not use restraints or seclusion and if a person in the office is acting out in any manner inappropriate, we will first ask the person to leave and then call 911 or local police if the response needs to be escalated.

Procedure

Renewing Strength counseling, LLC will comply with Ethical Standards of the licensing and certification bodies that govern his/her profession.

Renewing Strength counseling, LLC has an ethical responsibility to the general public, the individuals Renewing Strength counseling, LLC supports, and to maintain high standards of conduct.

When the individuals condition indicates that there is clear imminent danger to the individual or to others, Renewing Strength counseling, LLC will take timely, reasonable action, and inform the responsible authorities.

Participant Information

We collect information about participant’s psychiatric condition, history, medication, and family illnesses to provide the best possible care. We realize the sensitive nature of this information and are committed to maintaining its confidentiality. We do not release or discuss client specific information with others unless it is necessary to serve the individual and the release is signed, or it is required by law. Participant information is shared only for the purpose of treatment, payment or healthcare operations as defined by the Health Insurance Portability Act of 1966 (HIPAA).

When information is provided to the public with regard to drug abuse, mental illness, treatment and/or related services, he/she has the responsibility to ensure that content is accurate, unbiased and consists of objective, factual data, and that personal and professional opinion is so identified.

All written and verbal information pertaining to an individuals’ relationship with Renewing Strength counseling, LLC is considered confidential. A disclosure of information is restricted to what is necessary, relevant and verifiable, as delineated in appropriate federal and/or state regulations and case law. In public setting, appropriate distention will be used to avoid inadvertent disclosure of individual information.
